I’ve been to cities that never close down, from Bath to Salisbury to Birmingham in London’s West, from Dublin to Galway to Loosvindovah to Limerick ‘stab city’ to Dingle in Ireland’s SW, to Paris, Blois & Beaugency and down to Nice in the South of France, to Barcelona in Northern Spain, across to Berlin – Germany, over to Amsterdam & Endinover in Holland, to Edinburgh, Invaness, Loch Ness,in bonnie Scotland, the Lakes District, Newcastle, Liverpool and Old London Town.
But no matter how far or how wide I R O A M,
I still call Australia, I still call Australia, I still call Australia H O M E!

Best of's

Trip Highlights: Both Scottish Highlands and Ireland’s Dingle Peninsula, Niccy bike in Amsterdam & Monaco. Paris said tapas & Mont Serrat in Barcelona. Niccy’s theatre; Brecht in Berlin, Musical in London, Shakespeare in Stratford and Flemish puppet show.
Best Drive: Both agreed 24 mile Slea Head Drive on Ireland’s SW tip although Niccy’s rushed drive to the Highlands in Scotland was unforgettable.
WOW moments: Eiffel Tower, Berlin Wall, Louve, London’s Soho, bike riding in Amsterdam (with mudguards!)
Lowlight: Paris had a cancelled flight & hotel that turned into a highlight when she scored a private room for four days!
Most expensive moment: Paris had a beer that cost 9 Euro (nearly the cost of a carton here!) and Niccy had an emergency hotel room (just outa Dublin) that cost 90 Euro (very swanky though!)
Stranger Generosity: Niccy’s trailblazing pin striped suit woman on London tube and Paris’s French gentleman (who spoke little English) at airport
Stranger disappointment: Niccy’s Newcastle coffee rage and Paris headbutted a potential mugger in Paris, Oh Paris also had a nasty Aerobus driver in Barca
Best meal: Paris raved about the Tapas in Spain
Favourite language: Niccy is in love with French and Paris speaks Spanish
Best Tip: Niccy mentioned the Japanese girls in Nice hostel’s tip to check out Monaco on the local bus for 2 Euro.
Best Proposition: Paris had an approach on Las Ramblas in Barcelona ‘You like lesbian?’ and Niccy got three in one day including a bunch of flowers!

CLAPham!

Lyn Wright's Tanya and James.
The wonderful generous Barbara - Mauri's Mum!

these are the people in your neighbourhood, your neighbourhood..

The boys showed me their neighbourhood. I was lucky enough to visit my housemates Mother, Best friends son and Workmates son & girlfriend. This is Tom and the bonnie blue-eyed Alex at Holland Park. Later on I realised Tom had taken me through the posh streets of K(S)notting Hill.

Subway Animation Assignment

While in London travelling on the Tube I noticed the animations playing in small A3 sized screens as you went up the very long escalators. It was nice to see something artistic and often based around a nature theme in the clinical, mechanical and often stresssful environment of subway stations.
Create a similar 30 second animation trying to reach the rushing audience seeking relief.
Keep within the theme of nature.
If stuck for ideas choose from the following;
  • Butterfly landing on a leaf
  • Leaf falling from a tree
  • Waterfall
  • Bird feeding chicks
  • Thunderstorm
  • Sunrise/Sunset
Remember the screen is long and thin. Take note also that the station is devoid of natural light. Keep your colours bright and cheery.

London

Landed in London today (said with think Londoner accent). Many scenes straight outa The Bill even a screaming cop car through a suburban street. London is even more lively with beautiful Spring weather. Vince said it was the hottest day of the year! Girls in bikinis and men lying around with their floppy bellies exposed to the sun's warmth.
Am staying in Clapham Common and had a lovely Welcome meal with the locals.

Liverpool, England

Penny Lane is in my ears and in my eyes.
There beneath the blue suburban skies

Let me take you down, cause I'm going to Strawberry fields
Nothing is real

And nothing to get hung about

Strawberry fields forever

Strawberry fields forever

Strawberry fields forever

In the town where I was born
Lived a man who sailed to sea
And he told us of his life
In the land of submarines

So we sailed up to the sun
Till we found the sea of green
And we lived beneath the waves
In our yellow submarine

We all live in a yellow submarine
Yellow submarine, yellow submarine
We all live in a yellow submarine
Yellow submarine, yellow submarine

Wordsworth's Lakes District

I’ll leave William Wordsworth – Romantic Poet from 1770 to 1850 (I'm sitting in his writing hut in his garden), to reflect on the countryside and life here in the Lakes District…
‘Tis the sense
Of majesty and beauty and repose,
A blended holiness of earth and sky-
Something that makes this individual spot,
This abiding place of many men..
A whole without dependance or defect,
Made for itself and happy in itself,
Perfect contentment, unity entire.

Dumfries; Home of my Ancestors.

Also home to the Scottish Shakespeare; Robert Burns. Two great writers are from here!
But is it only mine? With names like Nairne, Perth, Scot's corner I think it is the origins of much of Adelaide/South Australia, Australia.
Actually as the story goes - James MacMillian (my Fathers Mother's Grandfather) left here for the bonnie shores of the new land called Australia. A MacLaren (My Mothers Grandfather) is involved as well and the result is a scottish fair skinned, red/brown haired girl in sunny Oz!

Loch Lormond and The Trossochs

Loch Ness

Can you see Nessie? View from my 13 Euro Hostel room on the banks of Loch Ness.
Urquhart Castle.
Drumdocht town where I had dinner.

Inspriation for Tarten? Beautiful lunar like landscape of Cairngorm Nat Park on the scenic drive to Pitlochry.

Scotland

It's miserable here! Mist rolling, FREEZING, pre-snow cold. Great Castle though, right in the centre of Edinburgh.
